Get a pan and throw in around 4 lb of sloe berries. Pour on boiling water to cover all the berries and pop a lid on. Leave for a full twenty four hours.
Now all the liquid has to be drained of, and then re-boil the liquid again and put back over the sloes. Now repeat this process once more. Lastly, strain the juice then add one and a half pounds of sugar, now bring to the boil..then bottle. Hey presto, your very own sloe syrup.
An unusual and not very popular berry, however it is a powerful free radical fighter nonetheless.
