Antioxidant Skin Care....Your Key To Youthfulness!

Do you want youthful looking skin? Antioxidant skin care is essential to preserving your youthful looks and reducing the signs of aging skin and possibly even reverse some of the damage.

Just take a look at someone who has either smoked a in their years or someone lived outdoors for a lot of the time.

What do you see?

Yes, is it weathered or wrinkled? It definitely does not look natural or healthy? Smoking is a major generator of the formation of free radicals throughout the body, hence it's many links to different types of cancer. It's most visible effects, however are on the skin.

Prolonged exposure to sunlight (ultraviolet rays) also generates large numbers of free radicals in the skin. Short bursts are good for you, as this gives your body the necessary potent Vitamin D.

Want proof? Try the 'pinch' test...you might be a little surprised..or concerned!

First a quick personal experience. I was a sun worshipper in my earlier years, as far as I am concerned I am a ticking time bomb for melanoma.

I lost count how many times I burnt my body, painfully recalling a particular bad sun-bathing (burning!) experience years ago in Portugal, having to 'peel' off a pillow in the morning which had stuck to my back overnight due to massive blistering. Boy was it painful!

I was totally ignorant or oblivious to the damaging effects of over-exposure to UV rays then (over 25 years ago). I am convinced the only reason I haven't contracted melanoma and been 'spared' is all due to the antioxidant skin care diet program that I stick to.

Ok, 'pinch' test time.

Pinch a piece of skin on your hand, then let go. Count how long it takes to spring back to it's place.

Now do the test again on a piece that has had less exposure to the sun.

Notice the difference?

You see the skin is the same age all over your body of course, but it has aged quicker, where it has been exposed more to the sunlight. Try this test with people of varying ages for more proof.

Topical antioxidants like anti-oxidant cream product or lotions are a very good way to help. Try and choose quality eco-friendly skincare products made from organic and natural ingredients.

Just some advice, use the creams etc moderately, try and not over-use them. The reason for this is that it is believed that over-ingestion of oral anti oxidants can stop the body producing its own anti-oxidants naturally. Also take anti oxidant supplements to help as well. Anti-oxidants are absorbed and retained by the skin.

Sunfood Body Care - Nutrition For the Skin

Vitamins A, Vitamins E, Vitamins C with beta-carotene reduce free radical damage to the skin to keep or enhance your health and beauty by reducing the lines and wrinkles on your body. Vitamin A is especially good as it can improve dermal collagen density and elasticity.

I know I am stating the obvious here, but try and eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, especially the ones with bright or rich, dark colors..try and eat a rainbow!

Also drinking green tea can help.

Other beneficial anti-oxidants for your skin include flavonoids, particularly Pycnogenol.

Here is a great skin care ebook. It is 66 pages and covers the following...

....and much more. Download it now it is informative and has some useful tips that you can try out straight away.

Eat Yourself Beautiful! Want a cheap and easy way to great looking wrinkle-free skin? Forget a face peel..... try an apple. A study published in the Journal of Biotechnology has shown that apple peel is packed with polyphenols, powerful anti-oxidants which keep the skin pumped full of oxygen and keep wrinkles at bay. One a day also boosts your immune system, erasing the cell damage caused by stress. So you can see how important anti oxidant skin care is.

Beware of Sunburn!

Whilst antioxidents are not a sunscreen or sunblock they do increase the skin's resistance to free radicals and inflammation-and the skin's ability to repair damage.

If you do get sunburnt it's not too late to take anti oxidants...(I am living proof!) inside and out.

They will help to restore the anti-oxidant balance on the skin and should reduce inflammation along with a quicker healing process.

Bottom line...taking antioxidants internally and applying anti-oxidant skincare lotion or creams, can give you inside-out protection against sunburn.

The usual word of warning however, it's no excuse to sit out in the sun for long periods. Excessive exposure to sunlight will eventually, sooner or later, cause cancer. And as the old saying goes, prevention is better than cure so..you have been warned!
