Vitamin C Benefit...'Soaks Up' Bad Free Radicals.

Vitamin C Benefit.

Yes, vitamin C is a very significant vitamin indeed. It plays a very important role in our bodies.

In fact it is the most important antioxidant in the bloodstream.

We are going to concentrate more on the antioxidant and free radical process that involves vitamin C directly.

For instance, take vitamin E. When it disarms a free radical, it then becomes a weak free radical itself.

So, the vitamin E radical (unlike bad free radicals), can now be turned back into an antioxidant, all thanks to vitamin C or Coenzyme Q10.

What they are basically doing is donating electrons to vitamin E, returning it back to it's antioxidant state. Clever isn't it?

A similar thing happens when vitamin C or glutathione defuses a free radical and, in the process, becomes a weak free radical. You see, these antioidants can be recycled back to their antioxidant form by lipoic acid or vitamin C.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and cannot be produced by the body...it must be obtained either by food or supplements.

Vitamin C is vital for a strong immune system, it really does 'soak up' the free radicals, and it has been shown with various studies that people who take vitamin C supplements live longer, healthier lives than those who don't.

It is believed that vitamin C can offer protection against oral and gastrointestinal cancers ...as well as some others too.

It protects against cancer-causing agents found in food that could be responsible for initiating cancers of the mouth, stomach and colon.

Vitamin C is found in many foods, but it is especially rich in citrus fruits.
