Ok, here is a smoothie amongst smoothies. In fact I would go as far as saying it's the Queen of smoothies.
Well, if we believe scientists at the University of Strasbourg, who invented, or created this amazing life-saving drink, then perhaps the claims are justifiable.
Here are seven fruits that make a potent, exotic cocktail blend that could be a lifesaver. Now if there are any graduates in fruitology then you will recognise all the fruits, however do not worry if you don't, most of them will be familiar to you.
The less recognisable (and exotic) fruits included are the acerola. Red in color it is cherry-like, but very powerful, containing 30 times more vitamin C than orange juice.
Also the lingonberry, also known as the cowberry. It is a cousin of the cranberry, and is a tart, red fruit popular in Sweden. I always buy a pot of lingonberry jam as a treat whenever I visit Ikea!
Also on the A-list of fruits is the aronia, aka chokeberry. This has been described as the healthiest berry in the world, and is an American blackberry.
This antioxidant super smoothie will not only taste good, but it is claimed to boost health, minimise the risks of strokes and heart disease.
The common thread with the fruits are compounds called polyphenols that are found in them. Polyphenols have been shown to protect the heart and help prevent arteries getting 'clogged-up'.
The Super Smoothie..Just How Good Is It?
The scientists are saying that this potent drink contains the best (tasting) and healthiest ingredients of fruit juices known.
In the laboratory tests, analysis of thirteen different juices and purees were used for their effects on pigs arteries. However the finished recipe was finally chosen after eighty (human) volunteers were tested.
The result was that heart artery walls became 'relaxed' when the fruit juice cocktail was exposed to them. If artery walls are relaxed and open in humans, then ultimately the blood flow to the heart would be boosted, and in turn would receive a healthy balance of oxygen and nutrients.

This study was reported in the Royal Society of Chemistry journal, Food and Function, and the tests that were carried out on various recipes measured the antioxidant ability to see how they can neutralize harmful molecules..called
free radicals
..in the body. And as we all know, the over-production free radicals are the reason we get diseases, such as cancer, Alzheimer's etc, and why we age quickly, as they damage cells and DNA.
Interestingly, the study discovered that there were some polyphenols that seemed to be more potent compared to others. And their ability to soak-up those nasty free radicals was more important than the polyphenols in the individual fruit.
This adds more weight to the fact that it is better to consume a spectrum of antioxidants as opposed to just one or two. They will work better and be more effective if taken together (synergistically).

Apple Puree.
20ml which is half an apple.
Acerola Juice 8ml which is 5 acerola berries.
Aronia Juice
8ml which is 5 chokeberries
Blueberry Puree
20ml is approx 15 blueberries.
Strawberry Puree
20ml about 9 strawberries.
Grape Juice
126ml which is approx 30 grapes. I would recommend black grapes.
Lingonberry Juice 10ml which is 8 lingonberries.
Pop into a blender, add a dash of natural Greek yogurt or any fat-free probiotic yogurt to thicken, and maybe a few ice cubes. Mix and blend. Drink immediately.
